On Sunday 19th October, Olivia represented her school and dance academy at the prestigious British Open Championship organised by the World Irish Dance Association (WIDA), held in Banbury. This elite competition brought together some of the most talented Irish dancers from across the UK and beyond, with dancers competing at the highest grade level.

The event consisted of four demanding rounds, each judged by a panel of three adjudicators, making for an intense and highly competitive day. Olivia showcased her exceptional skill, precision, and artistry throughout, ultimately securing an impressive 2nd place overall in the Under 14 category.

Her performance has earned her a coveted qualification spot at the WIDA World Irish Dance Championships, which will take place in Liège, Belgium in April 2026. This global event is a celebration of Irish dance excellence, and Olivia will be competing against top dancers from around the world.

We are incredibly proud of Olivia’s dedication, talent, and success, and we wish her the very best as she prepares to take on the world stage next spring!

Outstanding Success for Wollaston School Junior Girls Cross Country Team!

Wollaston School is thrilled to celebrate, yet again, the fantastic achievements of our Junior Girls Cross Country team in the recent ESAA Cross Country Cup. The team ran brilliantly to finish first overall in the county round, an incredible accomplishment that earned them the honour of representing the school at the Regional Finals.

The ESAA Cross Country Cup is one of the most prestigious school athletics competitions in the country, bringing together the best young runners from across the nation. To qualify for the regional stage is a major achievement in itself and reflects the dedication, teamwork, and talent of our students.

At the Regional Finals, the girls once again delivered exceptional performances against some of the strongest teams in the area. Violet led the way with an outstanding individual run, finishing 6th in the region, while Taya, Emily, Lyla, and Leila all produced impressive results to help Wollaston secure a brilliant 10th place overall.

We are incredibly proud of the team’s hard work, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the competition. Representing Wollaston School at this level is a fantastic achievement and a testament to their commitment and teamwork.

A huge well done to all involved, you’ve done the school proud!

On Tuesday 4th of November our Year 9 Girls Netball team travelled to Kettering Buccleuch Academy, to compete in the Under 14’s County Netball Plate. The girls faced some of the best teams across the county and fought hard in every single game. Wollaston had success in beating a strong Wootton Park team 3-0 and coming close to beating many others. The team played extremely well and they should be proud of themselves.

The U15 Boys (Year 10) were in action in the County Cup rugby competition against Moulton School.

The boys have been preparing and readying themselves for this for quite sometime and their enthusiasm and preparation for the fixture was superb. Positions were chosen and the game began at a fast pace. The players working hard to gain forward momentum. Due to a couple of handling errors the Moulton Team were quickly onto the score sheet through a well taken try. The Wollaston lads then spent a good ten minutes back and forth tackling and running hard into every contact and ruck. Half time arrived and Moulton were 10 – 0 ahead. Wollaston made a couple of subtle changes to the team and the message was to retain their own ball and run directly. This paid off immediately with a super team try and Alfie scoring. Mouton replied quickly with a try of their own and Wollaston were running out of time in the game. Jacob scored a desperate try, reaching for the line and the referee happy he made the grounding. This meant the last 5 minutes was frenetic and a really great contest. Congratulations to Moulton School on their victory and massive praise goes to the Wollaston team for absolutely giving it their all and having a great time playing rugby. Benjamin was the Wollaston player of the day with some brilliant tackles and great work as Scrum Half.
