PE Newsletter

It is wonderful to be back in school following the summer break and to see the enthusiasm of the students attending the many after-school PE clubs and activities. Tuesday was inspirational in terms of the numbers of students participating in their chosen sport with over 200 students attending the netball and football clubs. Well done to the Year 7 students who have now found their feet and really engaged with the sports on offer. Fixtures have now also started, and we ask that parents and carers respond to any communication regarding their child’s involvement in these fixtures at the earliest opportunity. Fixture information is sent home electronically, and we ask parents to check their emails and possibly junk mail if necessary. The fitness club on Wednesday was also superb with high energy and effort from staff/instructors with the bikes, small weights, and circuits in full use. Thursday saw good attendance at the rugby club for all year groups and teams. Rugby fixtures will begin in the next 3-4 weeks.

Upcoming Fixtures

Tuesday 24th September – U13 Boys Football v Latimer AWAY (Astro, no studs)

Wednesday 25th September – U14 Boys Football v Campion AWAY, U12 Boys Football v Weston Favell AWAY

Thursday 26th September – U13 Girls football HOME, U17 County Cup v Moulton AWAY.

Fixture Results

Tuesday 17th September – U15 Boys v Wootton HOME. 3 – 0 Victory. Goals from Laike, Hayden and Dom

Our Year 10s kicked off their county cup campaign against Wootton Park. After having over 25 pupils at training on Tuesday we had great depth to choose from. The Year 10s started off solidly and created multiple chances within the first half but could only convert one by Hayden B. The second half looked just as dominant with fresh legs from the substitutes coming off the pitch and helping to score and assist in 2 more goals. Great start to the year.

POTM: Lucas White

Wednesday 18th September – U14 Girls v Moulton HOME. 7 – 1 Loss Goal from Lottie

The Year 8 and 9 girls started off their national cup fixtures against a strong Moulton College side. They put on a valiant effort and played some great football at times with Lottie scoring a great solo goal. The defence was solid and had great shape but unfortunately the cohesion of the Moulton team managed to break that down with some great goals.

POTM: Hattie Twidale

Events

Mr Roberts took 15 sports leaders from school to the Pemberton centre on Wednesday the 18th of September, to support Northampton School Sports with hosting a multi skills tournament for the local primary schools.

The sports leaders ran eight multi skills sports activities for the Key Stage 1 pupils. They performed warmer warmups when the primary schools arrived and when the festival was under way the leaders worked in pairs to run fun activities based on agility, balance and coordination. Many of the primary school teachers commented on how brilliant the Wollaston sports leaders were with their 5 and 6 year old pupils. Sarah Harvey from Northampton school sports was very impressed as to how smoothly the leaders ran the activities.
