A huge congratulations to all players for their hard work and fantastic results! The next round of league matches for Year 9 & Year 10 will be held at home on Tuesday 8th October, against Friars and Weavers.

A special mention goes to Year 10 students Isla C and Tazmin M, who recently trialled for Northamptonshire U15 County netball squad and were successful—an incredible achievement!

Match Report: Wollaston vs Weavers School (13 Girls)

Result: Wollaston 3 – 0 Weavers School (9V9)

Person of the Match: Eve M

Wollaston secured a comfortable 3-0 victory over Weavers School, dominating the match from start to finish. Coach, Mr Crook set the team up in an attacking formation and Wollaston controlled the tempo of the game, especially from the middle of the pitch. Wollaston’s consistent pressure on Weavers’ defence forced them to stay on the back foot.

Eve M stood out with her excellent performance, earning the Player of the Match title for her relentless energy and playmaking. Her leadership and influence were key in dictating Wollaston’s forward momentum along with the partnership between her and Lilly T.

Weavers struggled to break through Wollaston’s midfield and found themselves pinned back in their own half for most of the match. Despite Weavers’ defensive efforts, they couldn’t withstand the relentless attacks from, who made their possession count with three well-worked goals.

It was a strong all-around team performance from Wollaston, showcasing their attacking prowess and organization, which ultimately led to their commanding win.

Match Report: Wollaston vs Wellingborough School (U13 Girls)

Result: Wollaston 4 – 0 Wellingborough School

Goals: Eve M(2), Lilly T(2)

Player of the Match: Alannah M

In a dominant 7-a-side match, Wollaston cruised a 4-0 victory over Wellingborough School, thanks to a strong defensive display and clinical finishing from Eve M and super sub Lilly T.

Wollaston’s defence held firm by Alannah M, Evie I, and Noa S, ensured a clean sheet with a disciplined and organised performance at the back. Their ability to stifle Wellingborough’s attacks allowed the team to push forward with confidence. Emily B and Eve M were instrumental in transitioning the play, creating key passing to attack on goal.

After applying consistent pressure, it was Eve M who broke the deadlock, finding the back of the net after a series of well-timed challenges. Wollaston continued to control the game, and with the introduction of Lilly T as a substitute, their attack became even more lethal. Thomas came on and sealed the victory, scoring twice to complete the win and cap off an impressive team performance.

A well-rounded effort from Wollaston, combining solid defensive work with sharp attacking play, ensured their well-deserved 4-0 win.

The Yr 11 Wollaston side had their first experience of the national cup on Thursday afternoon against Malcom Arnold. The boys were hungry to give a strong performance in this cup competition. The boys lined up in a slightly tweaked formation of 4 – 4 – 2 but took to their work exceptionally well going 1 – 0 up within 3 minutes of the game beginning. Some really good wide play by Cordell C as he beat 3 players before crossing the ball into the box for Connor M to tap in from 5 yards out. The change to the formation worked wonderfully with Luke A finding himself with lots of space on the right-hand side as he whipped a fantastic cross into the box which was again met by Connor M as he pirouettes and  puts Wollaston 2 up in 4 minutes. Malcom Arnold pulled one goal back which was well taken and the game was back on. Ollie T (who was fantastic throughout the game) added another to put daylight between the Wollaston side and the visitors, before Day added another. The visitors kept on fighting hard and pulled another goal back on the stroke of half time.

HT score – 4-2.

Some changes at half time saw the end of a strong first half display from Luke A and Connor M with Ronnie A and Jarron D taking their respective places.

Wollaston started brightly in the second half with the substitutes fitting well into the new system. Ronnie A looked bright and capped the second half introduction with a well taken goal. 5-2 Wollaston. Wollaston began to take full control now of the game with Cordell C adding another with a well finished back post header before the fixture was rounded off with a final goal from Jarron D. Wollaston ended 7-2 winner. Thank you again to the visitors who proved to be tough opposition. We wish them the best of luck for future fixtures.

MOM – Ollie T – strong midfield display in both defensive and attacking positions.

Key Updates

It was a great pleasure for Wollaston School and its students to show their continued support and sponsorship engagement with Northampton Town football club on Tuesday 1st October.

The students and staff were welcomed to the club for a tour of the pitch and dug outs. Then time to speak to the manager Jon Brady. The staff and students were delighted to spend time with the manager and the players available. Before the game the Northampton Town staff and hospitality was amazing. Also spending time to mix in the hospitality lounge area and prepare to watch the game. The game started poorly for Northampton Town with 2 quick goals from the away Bolton team. The Wollaston students gave some positive and energetic support to the home team and tried to push them to a better outcome. The Cobblers did score 2 late goals which made the result much more respectable. The final result was not as we had hoped for with 2-4 to Bolton and a big win for the away side. The Wollaston students left having had a wonderful and memorable experience.

We very much look forward to further events and continued support with the Cobblers and will be watching to see them climb the table this season. A big thank you to Mr Roberts, Mr Lewis and Mr Jackson for leading the trip and helping the students enjoy the trip and whole evening.

Best wishes

Mr Bennett and the PE Team
