Letters from the Headteacher

Dear parents and carers

With December nearly upon us, I am pleased to announce that alongside our Christmas trees going up, we will have a festive menu on offer throughout December in the school canteen, a Christmas concert on the evening of the 9th, we will of course have our usual and amazingly tasty Christmas lunch on the 11th and finish it all off with Christmas jumper day on the last day of term. We will also be doing our annual Christmas Hamper competition so please do look out for communications regarding donations and thank you in advance for supporting this cause.

Well done to Year 11 & 13 this week for the great start they have made to their mocks – they should be commended for their excellent attitude and approach to their exams.

Careers News

Head of Careers, Mr Myers writes: ‘We were pleased to accept an invitation from colleagues at Wellingborough School to attend their Careers Convention on 28th November. A number of Year 12 and Year 13 students attended the event and were able to discover more about apprenticeship and study options for their future. Student thoughts on the event are below :

I thoroughly enjoyed the careers fair as it provided me with information on a route that I am interested in. Hannah Bailey at ICAEW provided me with useful advice which has helped me to take my next steps towards my future.

Ella Kilborn

I really enjoyed the careers fair as it provided me with so much information about industries that I was interested in and now I know more than ever!

Alberts Krasovskis

Hannah Bailey from ICAEW give us an insightful talk about accounting, and how to work your way up from Level 3 to a Level 7.

Maia Thomas

HR stall was nice and professional, I learned of new career opportunities from the person from the ‘dangerous materials’ where they check them and set out regulations for their use and transport, along with a possible apprenticeships.

I also learned from the passionate Army stall that you’re able to enter a HR career path through the army and he was very informative.

Online safety – links for parents:

Head of Year 7, Mr Jackson writes ‘I would like to take this opportunity to send out some valuable links regarding internet safety and keeping our young people safe online. We understand that students use different online platforms to stay connected to their friends however, we have recently seen an increase in online choices which are putting our young people at risk of harm online. Included below are some helpful links for parents to follow to make sure that they have safeguarded the different devices that students can access at home. If you have any questions or queries about online safety, please do make contact with me.
