County Cup 1/4 Final Year 8/9 Girls football vs Northampton School- Wednesday 5th February.
The girls have done well so far this year and managed to get into the quarter finals of the County Cup.
The game started well, looking fairly even and Wollaston defended well. The girls had some great phases of play when in possession. Eve saw herself driving at the defence a few times in the first half but was brought down cleverly by the Northampton School defender. Midway into the first half Northampton scored a great goal from the right-hand side and they then unpicked the Wollaston defence a few more times. Even with some tactical and positional changes in the second half, Wollaston were overpowered by the crosses from Northampton. Northampton won 7-0. Great effort from the girls.
Y7/8 Girls District Futsal- Thursday 6th February
Wollaston went into this fixture with a strong side. We played 3 games against Hatton, Weavers and Wrenn. We played very well and played some very nice futsal knocking the ball from back to front quickly and keeping possession when needed. Unfortunately, we struggled to convert our chances and finish the games off. We drew 1 (1-1) and lost the other 2, 1-0 and 2-0. Great effort from the girls.
Year 7 Netball: 5-2 loss
A great performance from our Year 7 girls’ team, who put up a good fight against a strong side Rushden. Unfortunately, the game ended 5-2. We look forward to our next friendly game against Weavers before the District League starts in March. Keep up the hard work girls, the wins will come!
Year 8 Netball: 14-4 Win
The Year 8 team were hosted by Rushden School in a friendly fixture on Tuesday in which they came out firing. The girls have been waiting to get back on court to continue preparation for the U13 County Plate at the end of February. Keep up the great work!

Magnificent 7
I wanted to make you aware of the launch of the Magnificent 7 initiative which we will be rolling out in the new term for all Year 10 GCSE PE students. The launch of this initiative is aimed at developing the progress of all students with an end of year rewards trip at Box End Park in June.
Revision/ Intervention sessions on content covered so far in the course will be starting in January and will occur every Thursday in PE1 from 3:15pm – 4:15pm. This is the perfect opportunity to refine exam practice skills, polish over any misconceptions of subject knowledge and catch up on any content missed due to illness or absence.
As mentioned, this is aimed at driving pupil progress and the opportunity to provide students with an end of year reward at Box End Park. To achieve a place on the trip students must achieve one or more of the following Magnificent 7 criteria between January and date of the trip in June.
- Achieve a working Grade of 7 or higher
- Achieve a 70% success rate on the Everlearner Platform
- Attend 7 or more intervention sessions.
If you have any questions or queries, please get in contact with your child’s GCSE PE teacher who will be happy to support.
Mr Cayford and Mr Crook went to St Georges Park on Wednesday to look at P3FORM health and fitness coaching. Throughout the day experienced a range of fitness testing equipment and sporting facilities which could be offered to students in the future. A great day out in the vast England FA football pitches, gym and swimming pool looked at how professional football players train and recover during their busy schedules. This will be valuable learning to pass on to our GCSE and A Level students.
