Wollaston Sports Leaders

Well done to the Year 8 and Year 9 Sports Leaders who represented Wollaston School at the Primary School Multi-Skills event at the Northamptonshire School Games. The event took place on Monday 24th February, at the Kettering Conference Centre, bringing together local Primary School pupils for an exciting day of sporting activities.

Our Sports Leaders were exceptional in their roles, ensuring that each activity was clearly explained and expertly managed. Their enthusiasm, leadership, and encouragement helped create a positive and engaging experience for all the young participants.

A huge thank you to all involved for their hard work and dedication – you did Wollaston School proud!

The U15 boys’ futsal team competed in the district finals on the last week before half term.

The boys won the pool and were matched up against Rushden in the finals. Picking up from where they left off, the U15s were moving the ball confidently and found themselves with a couple of early chances which they couldn’t convert. Rushden then scored 2 deflected goals which was unlucky for the Wollaston boys and nothing Cyrus could do about them in goal. Wollaston then made a comeback with Hayden scoring late on. The boys unfortunately couldn’t score another and came runners up in the district futsal finals. Well done and we look forward to the football tournaments later in the year.

Wollaston School Crowned Champions at the Indoor Athletics County Championships!

Wollaston School has proven its sporting excellence, arising victorious at the Indoor Athletics County Championships! Competing against some of the finest schools in the region, our athletes showcased a remarkable combination of speed, strength, and skill across both track and field events.

On the track, Everly, Amber, Sophie, and Amelia dominated the sprints with explosive power and precision, while Violet and Taya delivered a masterclass in middle-distance racing, displaying exceptional pace-setting strategies and determination to secure 1st place finishes in their events.

In the field events, Wollaston continued to shine, with Alannah and Emily, and our incredible team of throwers and jumpers delivering outstanding performances. Every competitor pushed their limits, with our athletes securing top-two finishes in all field events, a true testament to their dedication and relentless training.

This phenomenal achievement is a reflection of our students’ commitment, resilience, and passion for athletics. We couldn’t be prouder of our championship-winning team! A huge congratulations to every athlete who competed—you have made Wollaston history!

Lionesses Trip

On Thursday evening we took 30 of the KS3 girls’ footballers to Wembley to watch the Lionesses play against Spain. The trip was put on to celebrate and reward the girls’ efforts and commitment to school football since the start of the year. We have seen our best turn out to the training sessions this year and the girls have been eager to develop and perform to a high standard. The KS3 girls enjoyed the trip and managed to see England beat the former Nations League Champions 1-0 in a professional performance. They analysed their performance against some of their role models and look at what they need to improve upon to maybe be a part of the England Lionesses team one day. Let’s see if the U12 girls can do this in the district cup final against Sir Christopher Hatton in a few weeks’ time.

Thanks to Mr Crook, Mr Stokes, Mr Jackson, Miss Berisha and Miss York for their support with the trip.
