Results

Wollaston Girls put on an impressive display as they secured a dominant 3-0 victory over Weavers. The team started strongly, opening the scoring early in the game. Their momentum continued immediately after, netting a second goal in quick succession to put themselves in control. As the match progressed, Wollaston continued to apply pressure, and their persistence paid off with a third goal later in the game, sealing a well-deserved win.

Following their confident performance against Weavers, Wollaston faced a tough challenge against Wellingborough. Despite their best efforts, they found themselves on the back foot as Wellingborough capitalised on their chances to take the lead. Wollaston battled hard to get back into the game, but Wellingborough managed to add a second goal, securing a 2-0 win. It was a tough result for Wollaston, but their determination and effort were evident throughout.

Primary school Year 3&4 Football tournament.

The Wollaston sports leaders organised a Year 5 & 6 football tournament for six local primary schools Wollaston, Irchester, Little Houghton, Bozeat, Denton and Cogenhoe. The schools have been doing football in PE and had lots of keen boys and girls. Some primary schools brought two football teams. The Year 7 & 8 leaders refereed the game and help coach some of the teams, organising warmups and football drills. There were 10 teams from the six local primary schools. The teams were organised into league with the team playing each other. The teacher from Wollaston and Denton primary commented on how good the sports leaders were at refereeing and how supportive they were with the younger students.

Events and Updates

Year 11 GCSE PE Practical Moderation

We would like to inform you about the upcoming GCSE PE practical moderation and filming days Year 11 students occurring next week. These sessions will take place as follows:

Monday 17th March

Tuesday 18th March

Wednesday 19th March

The full list has been published outside the PE office and we encourage all pupils to have a look at what sessions they are attending and which days out of the three listed to arrive to school in PE kit on. Please ensure they bring appropriate layers for the weather and stay comfortable throughout the day, as the activities are due to take place outdoors. Additionally, students should come prepared with plenty of water to stay hydrated.

Please note that a timetable has also been emailed directly to your child detailing the students involved and their sessions for the three days. Students must report to the appropriate sporting location to be registered for the correct sports they are being moderated in and to drop off their bags. Students must attend their scheduled lessons for the sessions they are not involved in for moderation. Punctuality and preparation are key to ensuring the day runs smoothly.

Please be aware of the need to provide signed medical evidence if your child is unable to participate. Otherwise, they will not be allowed to miss a session due to a claimed illness. If they are absent on any of the days, then they must have supported medical evidence which we must send off to OCR exam board.

We appreciate your support in helping the students prepare for this important aspect of their GCSE PE course. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Magnificent 7

Revision/ Intervention sessions on content covered so far in the course will be continuing this term every Thursday in PE1 from 3:15pm – 4:15pm. This is the perfect opportunity to refine exam practice skills, polish over any misconceptions of subject knowledge and catch up on any content missed due to illness or absence.

As mentioned, this is aimed at driving pupil progress and the opportunity to provide students with an end of year reward at Box End Park. To achieve a place on the trip students must achieve one or more of the following Magnificent 7 criteria between January and date of the trip in June.

  • Achieve a working Grade of 7 or higher
  • Achieve a 70% success rate on the Everlearner Platform
  • Attend 7 or more intervention sessions.

If you have any questions or queries, please get in contact with your child’s GCSE PE teacher who will be happy to support.
