Dear parents and carers

We’re at the end of another fantastic week at Wollaston and whilst we are entering the last few exams for Years 11 and 13, we have lots going on in terms of trips and visits – with a number of DoE expeditions taking place and of course preparations for our humanities trip to visit the WW! Battlefields and also the Tanzania trip.

We are also wishing students good luck in the regional athletics finals taking place on Monday – this is a massive achievement- and also good luck to Kaiden from Year 7 who is taking part in a kick boxing World Cup event in Hungary this weekend. Again, a huge achievement and fantastic experience.

We also welcomed a new addition to our Wollaston team this week with Mrs Petjal joining our Geography team. She is extremely well qualified and experienced and will be a huge asset to our team. We send her a warm Wollaston welcome.

I was also lucky enough to spend some time with our amazing sixth formers who had applied for the Head student and leadership roles – it was great to see the pride within the community and shared happiness on the news that Richard Fajinmi and Chloe Deacon will be our head students next year. Well done to both and I will look forward to working with you in the coming months. Huge thank you and well done to all sixth formers who participated in the process!

Dancers Perform at Wembley!

Miss McNeill, Mrs Paltridge and Mr Pugh report  ‘On Saturday 7th June, 41 pupils from KS3 went down to Wembley stadium to perform with ‘Join the Momentum’ at half time of the ‘Betfred Challenge Cup’.  Whilst the weather might have been wet and dreary, spirits amongst the group were high as they rehearsed at a nearby school with all the other schools who were performing.  Walking down Olympic Way towards the stadium was a real highlight before finding our seats within the ‘Warrington Wolves’ end.  Wearing the blue and yellow ribbons of our adopted team for the day, the pupils soaked up the atmosphere and the start of the game before they prepared to go onto the pitch.

The rain stopped at just the right moment and the performers took up their positions on the pitch ready to begin.  The atmosphere was electric as they completed the routine in front of thousands of Rugby League fans.  The performers worked as a real team as they supported each other and shared in the excitement of this amazing moment.  We are all incredibly proud of our performers who all were awarded with medals to celebrate their achievement.

Congratulations everyone!’
