On Wednesday June 11th the Wollaston Sports leaders organised a rounders tournament for year 5 & 6 primary schools. Six local primary schools brought 8 teams of students to play in two mini leagues. The nine sports leaders from year 7, 8 & 9 helped umpire and score all the games. It was a lovely day and all the primary school pupils enjoyed the rounders on the field.
Wollaston School Shines at District Athletics Competition
Wollaston School athletes made their mark at the recent District Athletics Competition hosted at Wellingborough School, with our Year 7 girls team producing a dominant and truly inspiring performance across both track and field events.
From the opening sprints to the final throws, the Year 7 girls were unstoppable. Special recognition goes to Taya, who delivered an outstanding double victory – storming to 1st place in the 100m with a lightning-fast time of 14.5 seconds and taking gold in the Shot Put with an impressive throw of 8.46 metres.
Violet and Emily delivered exceptional performances in the 800m, each winning their respective heats in style, with Violet clocking a remarkable 2 minutes and 45 seconds. Emily continued her winning streak with a superb performance in the Long Jump, securing yet another 1st place. Strong support came from Sophie and Neve, who both competed with determination and skill, contributing valuable points to the team’s total.
Thanks to their collective efforts, the girls amassed an outstanding 106 points, finishing well ahead of the competition – with the second-place school scoring 80 points.
Our Year 7 boys also represented Wollaston with pride and perseverance across a range of events. While the final standings may not have reflected their full effort, the team showed resilience and great sportsmanship throughout the day. Notable performances came from Charlie Marriott, who put in a strong run in the 200m, and Ty Lovitt, who impressed in both the Javelin and 100m sprint. The boys’ determination and team spirit were clear for all to see, laying a great foundation for future success.
A huge congratulations to all our athletes for their hard work, enthusiasm, and the way they represented Wollaston School – both on and off the track.
Wollaston School hosted the Year 8 District Rounders Tournament in perfect sunny conditions, welcoming five visiting schools for an afternoon of competitive sport. Wollaston topped Pool A with strong performances, while Sir Christopher Hatton led Pool B, setting up a tense final between the two schools. Despite a determined effort from Wollaston, Hatton came out on top with a 4.5 – 2 win. Well done to all teams involved and congratulations to Hatton on their victory. A fantastic effort from Wollaston, both on the field and as hosts!
