Letters from the Headteacher

Dear parents and carers

Year 11 Update

We are really pleased with the focus in lessons and the participation in revision sessions by our class of 2026. Last year’s results were our best ever at both GCSE and A level and we are targeting an equally successful year for this year’s cohort. To that end, please keep a couple of dates free in your calendar if you have a child in Year 11: Parents’ Evening Thursday 23rd October 1600-2000. This is an online event. Sixth Form Open Evening Thursday 6th November, 1700-2000- full details to follow before half term.

Year 12 Meet the Tutor Evening

Acting Head of Year 12, Mr Bodicoat writes: ‘We had a fantastic meet the mentor evening last night. Many parents came out stating how the enjoyed the opportunity to meet their child’s mentor and found it useful to hear how the next two years of sixth form will look. One parent commented how her son has really settled into Wollaston. “At the open day he begged me to come to Wollaston, now he is here his who character, and confidence has improved”.

As a sixth form team we are extremely proud how well the sixth formers have started, and we look forward to working with them over the next two years.’

Year 7 Meet the Tutor Evening Thursday 16th October

A reminder that Year 7 parents are invited to school to hear from Mr Towers and Mr Logan and to have the opportunity to meet their child’s tutor. The relationship between the tutor and child is hugely important in securing a positive experience of school, particularly during the transition period between primary and secondary. Please do make every effort to attend!

Football Success for Year 11 Laike Favier

Head of PE, Mr Bennett writes: ‘We are extremely proud to share the news that Laike played for MK Dons in the Vertu Trophy against Reading on Tuesday night. He came on as a second half substitute and played for about 15 minutes. Laike’s task was mainly to chase the ball as Reading had a lot of possession but was able to put them under pressure when needed. He did really well considering it was his first experience of first team football. Laike continues his exciting football journey with a match for MK Dons U21 against Notts County next week.’

Finally, I was really pleased to see the support today in school for Young Minds #HelloYellow campaign to support World Mental Health Day. This involved accessorising our wonderful uniform with something yellow and it was warming to see our values of kindness and community in full force with so many staff and students showing their support and showing for showing our young people they’re not alone with their mental health.

Best wishes for the week ahead.
