Letters from the Headteacher

Dear parents and carers

As we reach the end of this first half term, I want to take a moment to reflect on what has been a truly positive and productive start to the academic year. Particular highlights for me have been our open evening events

Year 7 Settling In

Our Year 7 students have made an excellent start to their secondary school journey. They’ve settled in remarkably well, embracing new routines and engaging enthusiastically in their learning. It’s been a pleasure to see their confidence grow and friendships flourish.

Celebrating Excellent Work

Across all year groups, the quality of work produced this half term has been outstanding. Staff have consistently shared examples of students going above and beyond, showing real commitment to their studies. Thank you to all our students for their hard work and to families for your continued support.

Uniform Reminder

As we move into the colder months, a reminder about our uniform expectations:

  • Leggings are not permitted. Students must wear either black trousers or a black skirt with black tights.
  • Despite the wet weather this week, black shoes must be worn – trainers are not part of our uniform policy.
We appreciate your support in ensuring students arrive at school dressed appropriately and ready to learn.

Maximising Learning Time – First Aid Update

To ensure students make the most of every lesson and build resilience, we are refining our approach to how we manage our first aid provision, and I would appreciate all parents discussing this with their child:

  • All common first aid issues will be handled by our trained first aiders, with initial screening via pastoral colleagues.
  • If a student feels that they need to see a first aider then they should alert their teacher who will notify our pastoral team.
  • If necessary, students will be escorted to the first aid room.
  • No student should go to first aid at break or lunchtime unless it is to receive first aid or they feel too unwell to remain in school.
  • If a student feels unwell, our first aiders will assess whether they are too ill to remain in school. However, please note that they do not have magic wands! Students who are unwell but able to stay in school should continue in lessons.
  • Emergency situations and serious illness will, of course, continue to be managed with the utmost care and urgency.

Sixth Form Open Evening – Thursday 6th November

We are excited to welcome our Year 11 students and their families to our Sixth Form Open Evening on Thursday 6th November.
Following our best ever results last year at both Year 11 and Year 13, we are confident that our 2026 cohorts will continue this success. We look forward to showcasing the fantastic opportunities available in our Sixth Form and hope to see all of our Year 11s in attendance.

Finally, I want to wish everyone a fantastic half term break. Thank you for your continued support and partnership in making our school a thriving, ambitious and caring community.

Best wishes,
Simon Anderson
