Dear parents and carers
Despite the inclement weather this week there has been a real warmth in the community with key events happening this week such as our Year 7 Performance in a Day (see write up below). This was the first time we had planned and executed such an ambitious project whereby a half year group delivered a really polished production by the end of the day having started from scratch! This involved some drama, music, dance and costume and prop making and it was great to see the high levels of engagement, encouragement and support throughout both days by children in Year 7. Thank you to our amazing and inspirational performing arts team and sixth form performing arts students for bringing the project to life and inspiring our Year 7s to such great outcomes!
We have also had some sixth form students out in the community supporting at Bozeat Primary this week and I know our students loved it as much as the primary students did too!
Reminder to Year 13 and Year 11 Parents: Mock Exams
Mocks start next week, and we are looking forward to seeing how well our 11s and 13s are progressing towards their final exams in the summer. These are pivotal exams in order to provide a check point and feedback to students on areas they are succeeding in and those they need to focus on developing before next summer. It is worth checking with your child when their exams are and that they have prepared themselves adequately.
Performance in a Day
The Performing Arts team write: ‘On Wednesday 19th and Thursday 20th November, Year 7 took part in the first ever ‘Production in a Day!’ to be held at Wollaston School. The pupils worked with real dedication and commitment to learn, create, rehearse and then perform their work. The theme of ‘Heroes’ or ‘Villains’ was fully embraced through Drama, Dance and Music with pupils acting, singing, dancing, making costumes and props, playing instruments, composing their own original pieces of music and working with a green screen to bring their ideas to life.
It was a real pleasure to see the pupils share their work in the afternoon with the other half of the year and the pupils demonstrated superb excellence and ambition in everything they did. The kindness and support that was shown to their peers was outstanding and the hall was full of laughter, cheering and clapping both days. A truly brilliant experience for everyone! Well done Year 7!’
Ambition Students Meet Damien Carr
Noah and Florrie (Year 11) write: ‘Both me and Florrie were very appreciative of this opportunity to have a guest speaker, Damien Carr GB Athlete, as part of the Ambition Programme. We were highly fascinated by his mindset and ability to do such challenging and long races. We could never imagine just running for over 24 hours! It was also great as he informed us on how to use his mindset in daily life with simple tasks to set up our day. It was interesting to hear about his time in the Army too and the skills they use to help them overcome challenges. We will both use this to help with our busy exam schedule and massive workload, also any stress we are currently undergoing.’
