Fixture Results

Monday 7th October – KS4 Hockey v Manor @ Home. First game for the Wollaston KS4 team saw them continue the magnificent work they have been putting in since last season. They managed to tactically outwit Manor School on numerous occasions with some great style to their play. Leading to a great win of 7 -1. Player of the match Lucinda B.

Tuesday 8th October – On Tuesday, Wollaston’s Year 9 and Year 10 netball teams took to the court to face Weavers school in the second round of the District League. Both teams demonstrated outstanding skill and teamwork, securing convincing wins: Year 9 won their match 21-1 and Year 10 won their match 20-4. The girls displayed excellent movement and spatial awareness, driving forward into open spaces and making smart passes that helped them maintain control of the game. Their defensive work was equally impressive, with numerous interceptions that stopped the opposition’s attempts to score. A highlight of both matches was the fluidity in the attacking area, where the ball movement was fast and precise, allowing for a series of accurate shots on goal. The girls showed great composure under pressure, consistently finding the net and extending their lead.

The team’s performance reflects their dedication and hard work during training sessions. Congratulations on this fantastic result, girls! Keep up the excellent work!

The Year 8 football team played their first game of the season. The face Alameda Middle School from Ampthill Bedfordshire. Mr Roberts refereed while Mr Megan managed the team. The team started well with Riley C breaking clean through the defence and scoring in the first few minutes. Wollaston then pinned Alameda back and added more goals, this time from Joshua R and Charlie H. Alameda responded just before half time with well taken a free kick from outside of the box that found the top corner. The second half was much tighter with Alameda threatening to get back into the game until Sam R scored a wonderful solo effort to put the game to bed.

Wednesday 9th October – The Year 8 football team has had a superb couple of days. Having won on Tuesday 4-1, the boys then moved on to the Wednesday County Cup game away at Latimer Arts College.

This was a good game of competitive and at time skilful football played by both teams. Many chances at either end were created throughout. However, the home team Latimer scored first in the final 5 minutes and left Wollaston needing a late goal.

After some real teamwork and pressure, the Wollaston players scored from a free kick which was the end of normal time. The game then moved to penalties. Really accurate and positive penalties by taken by Wollaston and a great save by the Wollaston keeper meant that they won the game and are through to the next round of the County Cup. Mr Meaghan and Mr Bennett were delighted with the super teamwork and support of the Wollaston boys towards each other and the game.

U15 Boys Football v Kibworth.

Continuing from the great win in the last round of the national cup, the boys looked to continue their winning ways. The score at half time was all square (1-1). An early goal into the second half by Connor B and pressure for the Wollaston attackers saw the Kibworth defence fail to stop another six from going in. It was pleasing to see some brilliant patterns of play, which have been worked on in training coming to fruition in the match. We look forward to watching them into the next round against NSB. Player of the Match: Lucas W

On Wednesday, Mr Roberts took seven sixth form students who had volunteered to referee a Year 3 & 4 tag rugby tournament to Wellingborough Rugby Club.

Eight local primary schools including Earls Barton, Cogenhoe and Bozeat Primary were in attendance. The students were able to work in pairs and help officiate. Sarah Harvey the Northampton School Sports Partnership Manager was extremely impressed by the leadership and rugby knowledge of the Wollaston Sports leaders: “The leaders were excellent with the year 4 students. Helping them and supporting them throughout the matches” .
