Dear parents and carers
With our festive period in full flow, we welcomed a number of families to Wollaston on Monday to witness the spectacle that was the Christmas show. It was an amazing community event and showcased what a talented group of students we have at Wollaston. All students performed exceptionally and also delivered the spirit of Christmas through their performances! I was incredibly proud of all students involved. It truly was a community event with a number of sixth formers welcoming front of house, helping with sound and lighting and helping with set changes.
Thank you also to Head of Music, Mrs Hollis-Brown whose expertise made it all possible and of course to her able assistants in Mr Rees, Ms Walker and Mr Brooks.
We also had a wonderful year 9 drama performance last night, again well attended and once again showcasing the amazing performing artists we have at Wollaston – a huge thank you to Head of Drama, Mrs Paltridge and also Mr Jardine-Wight for bring the performance to the community!
As we look ahead to the end of term, we have a packed week which includes our annual trip to Poland which goes out on Monday, GCSE art mocks, An Addams Family Information event and film on Wednesday, a Year 7 panto trip, Class of 24 Sixth Form celebration event and a rewards trip for the sixth form. Of course, no run into Christmas would be complete without Christmas jumper day which is Friday 20th this year. I look forward to seeing everyone’s efforts this year!
Christmas Party for Retired Members of the Community
Assistant Headteacher, Anita Walker, is also busy alongside our amazing food technology department preparing for the Wollaston Christmas Party for our Retired Members of the Community. There are still some tickets left so if you are retired or have a retired relative/friend that fancies a good Christmas lunch with brilliant entertainment by Wollaston students (ably assisted with some of our primary students) and a bit of Christmas bingo then do encourage them to get a ticket which are available through our reception until noon on Monday.
Parking Around School
Could I please take this opportunity to remind parents and carers to please park considerately when dropping and picking up their children from school. Invariably there will be some congestion at key times but please do help our neighbours and neighbouring businesses by parking considerately at all times.
Junior Theatre Company Production
Mrs Paltridge writes “Thursday night saw The Junior Theatre Company presented their play ‘Why is John Lennon Wearing a Skirt?’
The company delivered an outstanding performance which was woven with laughter and moments of real depth as they challenged the ideas of what it meant to be a woman in the 1960s. All pupils demonstrated real skill and their hard work truly paid off!
We look forward to welcoming pupils next week to the Information and Movies night for the 2025 production of ‘The Addams Family!”
