Good evening
A warm but wonderful week to inform you about!
🎺 NMPAT Brass Recital – A Wonderful Musical Experience! 🎶
Mrs Hollis Brown writes: ‘We are delighted to share that last Wednesday 11th June, year 7 and year 8 pupils had the pleasure of experiencing a special Brass Recital performed by the talented team from the Northamptonshire Music and Performing Arts Trust (NMPAT) here at Wollaston School.
The recital took place during the school day and offered our students a fantastic opportunity to enjoy live music and learn more about brass instruments in a fun and engaging way. From the powerful sounds of the trombone to the bright tones of the trumpet, the performance was both educational and inspiring.
The musicians not only performed a range of lively and familiar pieces but also introduced the students to each instrument, shared interesting facts, and encouraged musical curiosity. It was wonderful to see so many children thoroughly enjoying the music—clapping along, asking questions, and showing genuine enthusiasm.
We are proud to support arts and music education in our school and are grateful to NMPAT for bringing such a high-quality performance to our pupils. Events like this help to ignite a lifelong appreciation for music and the arts.
If your child was particularly inspired and is interested in learning a brass instrument, please let us know (an email has been sent out separately with an application form for lessons). NMPAT offers fantastic tuition opportunities, and we’re happy to help you explore options for lessons.’
Success At Athletics Regional Finals for Year 7 and 8 Athletics Team!
Mr Southward-Stokes writes: ‘Not only has this team began the year strong winning County Indoor Athletics they have continued their success to the outdoor season too. After a phenomenal performance at the local rounds of the English Schools’ Athletics Association (ESAA) Track & Field Cup, our Junior Girls team earned a coveted place at the Regional B Finals, held at the Pingles Stadium in Nuneaton on Monday 16th June 2025.
The ESAA Track & Field Cup is one of the most prestigious national school athletics competitions in the country, designed to identify and celebrate team-based athletic excellence in schools. Schools compete in local qualifying rounds, with only the top-performing teams from each region progressing to the next stage.
This year marked a historic milestone, as it was the first time our school has ever qualified for the ESAA Regional Finals an incredible achievement that speaks volumes about the progress and growing success of our athletics programme.
The Regional B Finals brought together 21 top-performing schools from across the wider Midlands, with only 9 schools qualifying in the Junior Girls’ category. For us to not only compete but to secure 5th place overall and with some individual successes in events as well is a remarkable accomplishment, especially in our debut year.
To achieve 5th place overall in our very first appearance at the Regional Finals is a tremendous success. Our Junior Girls have not only made history for the school but have now set a new benchmark for future athletes to aspire to.
We could not be prouder of what they’ve achieved. Their success is a testament to their hard work, resilience, and teamwork, and it highlights just how far our sporting provision and performance have come. There is still yet more these girls can give with the Year 7 County Athletics on the 30th June along with a day to the EMAT Olympics to demonstrate their physical prowess!’
